Display Issue with Internet Explorer

Compatibility issues with Internet Explorer 10 and 11 - if you are using either of these browsers you may experience display and functionality issues on the directory. To rectify select 'Tools' then 'Compatibility View Settings' and add the site to the list to be viewed in this way. Alternatively, you could try it in another browser such as Chrome. 

Adding a Listing

Any user can add a listing. Please try and make the contact details as complete as possible.

The listing will appear in the site directory for the area in which the service is based.

If no site is operated by us in that area then the listing will only appear in geographically expanded searches.

A non-local service can appear in a site's directory if a sufficient number of people give feedback on it. The amount of feedback necessary depends on the number of listings already in that section.

Unless a listing is paid for it should be non-advertorial i.e. say what the business does not how good it is. Enhanced listing customers can use whatever wording they wish.

Editing a Listing

Members are not able to edit enhanced listings but can change details on any basic listing.

Please be careful not to add information to a listing which is not meant to be in the public domain.

Changed details will appear immediately but will be verified soon after by a moderator.

Removing a Listing

You don't have to be connected to a business to remove its listing.

All removals are verified by moderators so if you see a listing that is out of date please remove it. 

Feedback guidelines

There is no set limit for comments. You are welcome to write a lengthy review or a one-line comment. We want the directory to concentrate on the best local services rather than the worst so as a guideline users should post at least three positive comments for every one negative one.

As a general rule if you are unhappy with the service from a local business, in the first instance, complain to them directly rather than posting feedback here. We don't want anyone to use these listings simply for 'score settling' so we may remove a negative comment from anybody who has been registered for less than a week.

Always bear in mind that you are personally legally responsible for anything that you write.

Please declare any interest you have if you make a comment on a listing.

Misuse of the Directory

If any user registers with false details to make comments about a listing they may be committing a criminal offence. We would offer our full co-operation to any related investigation.

Attempts to boost the rating of a service by giving bogus feedback may result in that service being removed from the directory.

Do not call into question the integrity of service providers unless you can verify any claims you make against them.

Any comments alleging that food poisoning was suffered at a local restaurant will be removed unless the case been verified by the relevant authorities.

Do not allege criminal behaviour on the part of any service provider. Go to the police or Trading Standards Officer. By all means give feedback on any successful prosecution.

User Registration

You must be correctly registered with the site with you full name, correct post code and date of birth before you can give feedback on a service. If your registration details appear to be inaccurate we will request further verification and feedback will not be displayed.

Non-UK residents may give positive feedback only about listings.

Dispute Resolution

If you are unhappy about a comment posted on your listing in the first instance you should contact the person who made it. If you are unable to resolve the problem between you then there are two options:

you can request that all comments on your listing be removed and no further feedback be given.

you can initiate legal proceedings against the author and the comment will be suspended until these proceedings reach a conclusion.

If legal proceedings are threatened against this site as a result of any feedback posted by a third party then the related listing will be removed until any such threat is formally withdrawn in writing.
